Buffalo to host state GOP convention

New York Republican Chairman Edward F. Cox will announce the selection of Buffalo for the state GOP convention on March 4 during a Tuesday press conference at 11 a.m.

Cox will be joined by Erie County Republican Chairman Nicholas A. Langworthy at GOP headquarters to disclose the party’s choice of the Marriott HarborCenter on the Buffalo waterfront for its statewide gathering. The session will nominate an opponent for incumbent Sen. Charles E. Schumer in the November election.

The Buffalo News has previously reported that Wendy Long, an attorney who ran against Democratic Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand in 2012 and lost by 44 percentage points, has been mentioned as a possible Schumer opponent to be considered at the meeting.
