A Grand Island man has been charged with four felonies in connection with the burglary of a business last month, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Jared Sander, 38, of Bedell Road, broke into a business in the area of Industrial Drive on Dec. 3 and took a safe and other items, the sheriff’s office said.
Sander was charged with second- and third-degree burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief. He’s being held in the Erie County Holding Center and is due in Grand Island Town Court on Monday.
Investigators found a window had been removed and there were large holes in the wall where they believe the thief entered the building. Also, the security system of the business was tampered with and rendered inoperable, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities said they are investigating about 10 other similar burglaries on Grand Island and Sander may face additional charges.
