Lancaster woman pleads guilty to insurance fraud

Parette Walker, 53, of Cedar Brook Drive, Lancaster, pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of fifth-degree insurance fraud before Buffalo City Judge Kevin J. Keane for falsely collecting disability benefits from an insurance company.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty Jr. said Walker has already fully-repaid the First Union Life Insurance Company for her undisclosed illegal benefits. She faces a prison term of up to one year when she returns to court for sentencing Feb. 10. She was charged after an investigation by the State Department of Financial Services. The dates of her crime were not made public by Flaherty.
