Gregory J. Olson, vice president at M&T Bank was an avid cyclist

July 15, 1960 – Jan. 19, 2016

Gregory J. Olson of Grand Island, a vice president at M&T Bank, died Tuesday after a short illness. He was 55.

Born in Niagara Falls, Mr. Olson graduated from Niagara Falls High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Niagara University. He also received a master’s in business administration at the University at Buffalo.

Mr. Olson was an employee at Merrill Lynch before moving to M&T, where he most recently worked as vice president and treasury portfolio manager.

He recently received a 25-year service award at the bank.

He was an avid cyclist who competed in the Empire State Games and also completed the Skylon International Marathon in 3 hours, 1 minute.

Mr. Olson was predeceased by his wife, the former Cynthia Innes, in January 2010. He is survived by his daughter, Jennalise, and brothers, Morris, Charles and John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls.
