What’s the deal with Jerry Seinfeld, who returns to Shea’s Buffalo for two sold-out shows Jan. 22?
• After first taking the stage in the mid-70s, Seinfled rose to be one of the most successful comedians of all time, and was just listed by Forbes as the highest-paid comic of 2015. But even funny billionaires are not immune to bombing, as seen in the 2002 feature-length documentary, “Comedian,” that featured Seinfeld writing and trying out new material.
• If you haven’t seen Seinfeld on stage, you’ve seen him on screen. He is the co-creator and star of the 90s NBC sitcom “Seinfeld,” which became one of the most critically acclaimed and beloved television series of all time. The show’s cultural relevancy can still be felt today, as it entered dozens of catchphrases into the zeitgeist.
• Seinfeld’s latest venture is the web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee,” which features the comic interviewing other comics while driving around in a classic car. The seventh season, which just debuted, landed a pretty big get: A 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, in which Seinfeld drove around somebody named Barack Obama. The series is shown on Crackle.
