First Ward fire quickly brought under control

A fire late Thursday morning in an occupied one-story structure in the city’s First Ward was quickly declared under control by Buffalo Fire Department personnel.

The fire at 63 Vandalia St. was reported by an office worker nearby who reported seeing smoke coming from the structure shortly after 11 a.m.

The blaze was brought under control at 11:14 a.m., reported Buffalo fire dispatchers.

Damages were estimated at $20,000 to the building and $5,000 to the contents.
