Teen’s threatening call prompts evacuation at Fredonia Walmart

FREDONIA – A Fredonia-area teenage boy was charged with a felony threat count after he admitted making a false 911 calls about someone walking into the Fredonia Walmart on Bennett Road early Wednesday afternoon and threatening to “start shooting.”

Fredonia Village Police Chief Bradley C. Meyers said the store was briefly evacuated about 2:20 p.m. and officers from multiple departments searched it before it was reopened. The teen who made the fake gun call told officers that because he had seen information online about similar calls being made in other parts of the country.

The boy, who was not identified, was never in the store and did not possess any firearms, Meyers said.
