Two men charged after being removed from Lockport hotel roof

LOCKPORT – Two men who were drinking on the roof of the Comfort Inn at 5716 South Transit Road were removed by the South Lockport Fire Department aerial truck on Dec. 21, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies reported.

William D. Moxon, 23, of Castleton, and Eric T. Griffon, 31, of Second Avenue, North Tonawanda, were found with multiple empty beer cans. The men, both solar panel installers, were in the area to work and admitted they had made a bad decision to go up on the roof for a non-work related reason.

While Niagara County sheriff’s deputies were on the scene searching for two intoxicated men on the roof, they received a report of an overdose inside the hotel. They were unable to locate an overdose victim, but after being questioned, Moxon admitted he made the 911 call in hope the deputies would leave the area.

Both men were charged with criminal trespassing and falsely reporting an incident. They are to appear in Lockport Town Court on Tuesday.
