Letter: Classic Christmas songs being interpreted wrong

Classic Christmas songs being interpreted wrong

Once upon a time, Christmas songs were written to spread happiness and for pure listening pleasure, with no ill will intended. Now innocent Christmas songs are being attacked. The classic, “Baby it’s Cold Outside” (one of my favorites), is now being classified as a “date rape” song. “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” is about sex.

What were once happy, innocent songs of the season have turned into taboo. These songs are Christmas classics that always brings a smile to my face and joy in my heart. Will I be able to merrily hum along without getting foul looks thrown my way? Christmas killjoy, for sure! Oh, jeez. What’s next?
