17-year-old injured in horse-drawn buggy crash in Sherman

SHERMAN – A 17-year-old girl was injured in a horse-drawn buggy accident early Monday morning in Chautauqua County, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said.

The horse pulling the buggy got spooked, and the 18-year-old man operating it lost control at about 12:15 a.m. on Alder Bottom Road, deputies reported.

The man jumped from the buggy, then chased it on foot and found the girl unresponsive in the roadway. She was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing.
