WIXSON, Ruth

WIXSON - Ruth Died peacefully on December 15, 2015. She was born in the village of Wyoming, NY October 5,1921 to Twila and Robert Titus. She grew up on dairy and apple farm and promoted this amazing fruit all her life. Ruth went to Syracuse University and graduated with a Home Economics degree in 1944. She met Burt Wixson there, and they married August 6, 1945. Three sons followed every two years - Lon, Bruce and Steve. Besides raising her three boys, she enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and gardening. Now her three sons enjoy gardening and are great cooks - her heritage. She was a substitute teacher in Home Economics for many years and enjoyed being a docent at the Buffalo zoo. In later years she and Dad traveled the world. They played bridge with friends and were diligent walkers. She was a member of the University Presbyterian Church for 65 years. She was in leadership roles and enjoyed singing in the choir and working in the food pantry. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Paul, Colson and Homer and her dear Burt. Our mother was especially pleased to have lived in her house until the final days of her life. Ruth is survived by her sons Lon (Linda), Bruce (Judy), Steve (Ginny Vaughan), six grandchildren Todd, Christopher, Ryan, Elizabeth, Casey, Benjamin and seven great-grandchildren. She will be especially missed by her family and her dear friend Mary Ann MacDonald. Memorial service for Ruth will be Saturday January 2 at 11:30 at the University Presbyterian Church.
