Letter: New stop signs have made merging more dangerous

New stop signs have made merging more dangerous

To make the Scajaquada Expressway safer and more efficient, remove the new stop signs on the entrance ramps, which have already been designed to make merging safe. The parkways were designed this way for good reason.

Merging is not the problem and merging at speed is safer than stopping, craning one’s head around 150 degrees, and then accelerating into traffic, which is often continuous. It is especially difficult for older people and those in vehicles with limited vision to turn their head around far enough to see when it is safe to merge. The additional stop signs create a risk where little existed before.
