Front page Dec. 24, 1915: Rejoice in prosperity, Buffalo, after previous 'scant' Christmases

"Merry Christmas and prosperity for all Buffalo"

"Merry Christmas.

"The Evening NEWS today extends the compliments of the season to its readers and to all Buffalo, as no paper will be printed tomorrow.

"Forecasts by keepers of the county institutions, by the headworkers of the Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, and by various societies which work among the people in this city, are that Buffalo's Christmas is to be more generally celebrated and a much happier one for thousands of families than has been enjoyed, for the last three years.

"There's prosperity in Buffalo this Christmas.

"Some Christmas, this.

"Many hundreds of families, which a year ago had a scant Christmas, are to be merry tomorrow, for the husband and father is working and mother has a new dress coming, and mother and father have been secreting packages in the front bedroom clothes press for the last two weeks, which means that the boys and girls are to be delighted with Christmas gifts."
