Grand jury member arrested for allegedly disclosing decision

BATAVIA – A member of the Genesee County Grand Jury was arrested Monday night for allegedly revealing the decision of the grand jury in a homicide case before it was officially filed, the Sheriff’s Office announced.

Janice L. Mortellaro, 62, of Batavia allegedly revealed the decision to an acquaintance after hearing testimony on the homicide case on Dec. 8.

She was arrested 9:30 p.m. Monday and charged with unlawful grand jury disclosure, a class “E” felony.
