Arson suspected as fire destroys vacant Niagara Falls house

Arson is suspected in a blaze that destroyed a Niagara Falls house Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to a vacant 2½-story brick building at 514 19th St. shortly before 9 p.m., according to the Niagara Falls Fire Department. The home was empty and no one was injured, but fire investigators found that fires had apparently been sparked at multiple points on the second and third floors, officials reported.

The fire took 2½ hours to extinguish, according to the report, and is estimated to have caused $39,000 in damage.
