Lockport sets swearing-in ceremony, holiday hours and garbage schedule

LOCKPORT – Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey will take the oath of office for her new four-year term at 1 p.m. Jan. 1 in the Historic Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave. The event will be open to the public.

Newly elected City Treasurer Sue A. Mawhiney and the six members of the Common Council also will be sworn in at that time. McCaffrey said she will make an inaugural address.

Meanwhile, Lockport City Hall will close at noon Thursday and Dec. 31 in observance of Christmas Eve and New year’s Eve, City Clerk Richelle J. Pasceri announced. The building will remain closed on the holidays, Friday and Jan. 1.

Christmas and New Year’s also will affect garbage collection for city residents whose regular garbage day is Friday. Their trash and recycling will be picked up on Saturday and Jan. 2. Bulk items will be collected during the week of Jan. 4.
