Former Medina mayor tapped to fill vacancy on Batavia City Council

BATAVIA – The city Republican Committee has chosen Adam M. Tabelski, a former mayor of Medina who moved to Batavia about a year ago, to fill the vacant at-large seat on City Council.

If confirmed by Council at its organizational meeting on Jan. 4, Tabelski will move into the position vacated by John Deleo, who was elected in November to the Genesee County Legislature. Committee Chair Melissa Gaebler said five people were interviewed for the post.

Tabelski, an account manager for Wendel Cos. in Williamsville, served as Medina’s mayor from 2008-11. He was a communications director for Sen. George D. Maziarz from 2002-14, and also served in the Army National Guard for six years.

His wife, Rachael, is the marketing & communications director for the Genesee County Economic Development Center.
