Ciminelli rolls into final four at Viper Championship

Ryan Ciminelli of Cheektowaga won his best-of-five elimination match against Sean Rash, 3-0, on Wednesday and advanced to Friday’s final four of the GoBowling.com PBA Viper Championship at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

The Viper finals will be taped on Friday for showing on ESPN, Sunday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m.

Ciminelli defeated Rash, a nine-time Tour champion, 223-214, 256-203 and 215. He will face Gary Faulkner, Jr., of Memphis, Tenn., in one semifinal on Friday. Jakub Butturff of Chandler, Ariz., and Warren Crawford of McKinleyville, Calif. will meet in the other.

Thursday night, Ciminelli as the No. 2 seed, and Faulkner as the No. 3 will compete in the five-bowler stepladder finals of the Rolltech PBA World Championship. No. 1 E.J. Tackett of Huntington, Ind. No. 4 Scott Norton of Mission Viejo, Calif., and No. 5 Rhino Page of Orlando, Fla. will bowl in the first match of the finals which will be shown live on ESPN at 7 p.m.
