A bus driver who fell asleep at the wheel with the engine running has pleaded guilty to aggravated driving while intoxicated while operating a school bus.
Brian Ceroky, 55, of Harvey Avenue, Lockport, was arrested Nov. 1 after SUNY Buffalo State students complained that the driver of their Gray Line shuttle bus was intoxicated. According to authorities, State University Police Officer Raven Harvey located the bus on Grover Cleveland Circle and saw it hit the curb before pulling over to let students out.
The officer found Ceroky asleep at the wheel, with the keys in the ignition and the engine running. Once awake, the driver was slurring his speech, smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes, according to the officer, and when asked to perform field sobriety tests he could not, because he couldn’t stand up.
A breath test showed Ceroky had a blood-alcohol content of .30 percent.
He will be sentenced March 23 before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller.
