Artificial turf subject of Williamsville School Board meeting

A public forum on the safety of artificial turf will be featured when the Williamsville School Board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the district office board room, 105 Casey Road. The district earlier this year announced plans for a $27 million overhaul of the athletic complexes at its three high schools, which prompted some parents to raise concerns over drainage problems due to runoff from artificial turf, as well as the potential long-term health risks associated with the rubber crumb material that is sometimes used in place of grass on athletic ball fields.
