Three public hearings will be held before the Town of Newstead Board meeting on Monday.
The first, scheduled for 7:40 p.m., will address the town’s contract with Amherst Fire Control. It’s a standard, three-year contract, Supervisor David Cummings said at the Nov. 23 board meeting.
The second, at 7:45 p.m., will be on rescinding a local law that allowed the board to surpass the state’s 2 percent tax cap, if it was necessary. The board has to rescind the law in order for town residents to be eligible for a refund for the town being under the cap.
The third hearing is set for 7:50 p.m., and will be on changes to the town’s agribusiness law. Proposed changes would make the town friendlier to agribusiness and agritourism.
A regular meeting will follow the hearings at 8 p.m. Newstead Town Hall is located at 5 Clarence Center Road, Akron.
• The Akron School Board will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Akron High School, 47 Bloomingdale Ave., Akron for a special meeting, followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m.
