Falls gas station robbery foiled when bandit is tripped

NIAGARA FALLS – A gas station attendant and another man ran down a suspected robber as he tried to flee Friday afternoon, police said.

According to police, the bandit entered the Valero station at 1911 Ferry Ave. shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, holding his hand inside his jacket as if he held a gun, and demanded money from the cash register, threatening to shoot the attendant.

The robber fled the store into a back alley with $250 in cash, with the attendant and another man chasing him. The man managed to trip the suspect and the two restrained the bandit until police arrived,

The 16-year-old South Avenue resident was charged with third-degree robbery, police said.
