Lockport man admits to injuring State Police investigator

LOCKPORT – A man who was charged with inflicting a shoulder injury on a State Police investigator while resisting arrest pleaded guilty to a felony Friday in Niagara County Court.

Kyle M. Burkwit, 26, of Washington Street, Lockport, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree assault and was scheduled for sentencing Feb. 17 by Judge Sara Sheldon. The maximum sentence is four years in prison.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan K. Parisi said Investigator James Buono was hurt while trying to serve an arrest warrant on Burkwit July 24 in the City of Lockport.
