Cecil L. Hudson, church gospel singer, truck driver

June 19, 1947 – Dec. 2, 2015

Cecil L. Hudson, a gospel singer and retired truck driver, died Dec. 2 in his Buffalo home after a brief illness. He was 68.

Born in Marengo County, Ala., Mr. Hudson graduated from Marengo County Training School.

He worked as a truck driver for WNY BICS, a Cheektowaga recycling company, from 1984 until retiring in 2000.

Mr. Hudson was the second lead singer in the gospel group the Bible Tones, and a member of the male chorus at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anita; three daughters, Ka’Niesa Cole, Tanya and Keaira; seven brothers, Jimmie, David, Aguster, Eugene, Leonard, John and Harold; and three sisters, Evie Lou Wilkerson, Patricia Dumas and Jeanette. An eighth brother, Paul, died in the 1970s.

A funeral was held Thursday in Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
