There will be no toll charges on Friday, Dec. 25 in celebration of Christmas on the local bridges into Canada.
The toll-free period will be in effect for 24 hours, beginning at midnight on Christmas Eve for the Peace Bridge and 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve for the Lewiston-Queenston, Rainbow and Whirlpool bridges in Niagara County.
“We are happy to continue the tradition of offering free travel between Canada and the United States on the Christmas holiday,” said Ron Rienas, general manager of the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority.
“It is our pleasure to forgo toll collection as a gift to Canadian and American travelers,” said Lew Holloway, general manager of the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, which manages the Niagara County bridges.
In addition, the Peace Bridge will be illuminated in festive colors on Christmas Day.
