ALLEGANY – A sexual assault incident was reported to have occurred at an off-campus house near St. Bonaventure University early Sunday morning, the university said on Monday.
The reported incident happened at a house on East Union Street, and the university has started its own investigation, the school said. No charges have yet been filed, it said.
The university said on Twitter on Sunday there were reports of two assaults at an off-campus residence but on Monday a spokesman said it has not been determined whether there was more than one victim.
The university issued a written statement, which, in part, read: “St. Bonaventure University is aware of a reported incident of sexual assault early Sunday morning at an off-campus house on East Union Street in the village of Allegany. We informed the campus community of the incident Sunday morning as part of our obligations under the federal Jeanne Clery Act. Any reported incident of criminal sexual violence is deemed a threat to the community, even when the violation may have been committed by acquaintances of the reporting party, as was the case in this incident.”
Police departments in communities around the campus are not investigating, the university said.
