THE LONG VIEW – Explore Buffalo will lead an excursion back into the past from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday with its City of Light bus tour, which will look at the city through the eyes of the narrator of Lauren Belfer’s historical novel set in the era of the 1901 Pan-American Exposition.

The tour will meet at Buffalo Seminary, 205 Bidwell Parkway, which is the model for the school in which fictional narrator Louisa Barrett was headmistress. Tickets are $40. Reservations are required and space is limited. To sign up, call 245-3032 or visit explorebuffalo.org.

ONE LUMP OR TWO? – Celebrate the season in an old-fashioned way at a Victorian Holiday Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

Served by the English Tea Ladies of Elma, it will include an assortment of teas, plus finger sandwiches, scones with homemade clotted cream and strawberry jam, and English meringue topped with homemade lemon curd, clotted cream and strawberries.

MILESTONE MOMENT – The Polish Arts Club of Buffalo will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a traditional Christmas Wigilia meal at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Millennium Hotel Buffalo, 2040 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga. It will begin with a special invocation by Bishop Richard Malone and be followed by the singing of traditional carols in Polish and English. Tickets are $30, $23.50 for students. PREMIERE BOOKING – Brighton Place Library kicks off its 12 Days of Christmas fundraising campaign with a party beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Rizzo’s Casa di Italia Restaurant, 2763 Eggert Road near Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda. There will be pizza, wings and antipasto at 9 p.m., as well as drink specials, raffles and prizes. Music will be provided by guitarist Chris Maloney.

The first 50 people who donate $50 to the library will receive a ticket to Saturday night’s Buffalo Sabres-Los Angeles Kings hockey game, along with a bus ride from the restaurant, with beverages. The bus will leave at 6:15 p.m. For info, call 332-4375.

WINNERS WANTED – The Lions Clubs of Western New York once again are selling tickets for their Super Bowl package raffle to benefit the Brandel-Murphy Youth Foundation, which provides matching grants for projects for children in the area, such as handicapped-accessible playgrounds.

Top prize is a trip to the Super Bowl on Feb. 7 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., complete with airfare for two, three nights at a four-star hotel and a variety of other goodies, total value more than $14,000. There also are 10 cash prizes ranging from $250 to $2,000. Tickets are $20 each, six for $100, and can be purchased by calling Western New York Lions District 20N coordinator Tom Witkowski at 909-1862 or emailing him at liontom20n@roadrunner.com.

THANKS, BUT NO THANKS – Once upon a time, the Women’s Missionary League from Salem Lutheran Church in South Buffalo was collecting used religious Christmas cards for a craft project. However, even though the craft project was discontinued several years ago, the cards still occasionally are coming in. League secretary Claire Carlson thanks card donors for their generosity in the past, but now suggests that they save their postage money and find another way to recycle their cards.
