Depew students work to “Stuff the Bus” with food donations

How much food will it take to fill a school bus?

Business, technology and art students at Depew High School are going to find out as they hold a “Stuff the Bus” campaign from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the school, 5201 S. Transit Road.

For 12 hours, students will be in the front parking lot of the school, accepting food donations for local families in need. All donations will be taken to the Tri-Community Food Pantry in Depew.

Students have crafted handmade and individually painted holiday ornaments as thank you gifts for larger-scale donations.

The food donation campaign was conceived by students to apply the concepts of management, marketing, operations and human resources to apply them to real-life scenarios.

The Bank of Akron, the Lancaster Depew Federal Credit Union and Key Bank supplied the funding for the campaign. Funds were used to print posters, marketing materials for the event, buy supplies to create ornaments and award prizes for classes that bring in the greatest amount of food.
