Fire ripped through a 2-and-a-half-story home Saturday night on the city’s East Side, injuring two firefighters and requiring extra fire companies to bring the blaze under control.
The Red Cross is assisting an unspecified number of occupants of the home at 18 Littlefield Ave.
Two firefghters, whose names were not released Sunday, were taken to Erie County Medical Center with injuries. No information was provided on the residents of the home.
Atmospheric conditions caused the smoke to hang low in the neighborhood. A resident of Briscoe Avenue reported smoke on that street, causing fire companies to be dispatched. The smoke was coming from the Littlefield house fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
