Two arrested after police chase armed man into Niagara Street home

Northwest District police arrested two men in a house on Niagara Street shortly after noon Saturday after chasing one of them, who was armed with a .38-caliber revolver, into the house.

The gunman, Daiquan Johnson of Olympic Avenue was caught in 2129 Niagara, as was Maurice D. Powell Jr. of Roslyn Street, police said. Nearly an ounce of crack cocaine, a scale and packaging materials also were discovered, police added.

Both face felony drug charges. At the cellblock in Police Headquarters, booking officers found two bags of heroin on Johnson, who also was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, police said. The suspects’ ages were unavailable.
