Robert Lincoln Johnson, a retired purchasing agent for the Buffalo Board of Education, died Sunday in Carolina Medical Center, Concord, N.C. He was 81.
Born in Buffalo, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University at Buffalo with a minor in Caribbean studies.
He worked for more than 25 years for Western Electric until the plant here closed in the early 1980s.
Known to all as Bob, Mr. Johnson was a supervisor for General Motors before taking a position with the Buffalo schools. He retired in 1997 and moved to Charlotte, N.C., in 2012 to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Lois Edwards; a daughter, Lynn Johnson Hill; a son, Brent; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 15 Fernhill Ave., after viewing at 10 a.m.
