Niagara Falls woman hit on the head with a rock by would-be robbers

NIAGARA FALLS – Unable to find any money on their victim, two bandits bashed a 51-year-old woman in the head with a rock Saturday morning in the 1900 block of 11th Street.

Police found the woman lying near a pool of blood about 11 a.m., with a large gash on her forehead. She told officers that she was walking home from a nearby dry-cleaning business, carrying a coat, when two males approached her from behind and demanded money. When she said she had none, the two pushed her to the ground and one held her down while the other went through her pockets.

The victim, a Cleveland Avenue resident, apparently walked a block from where she was attacked to where she was found. She told police she had no recollection of how she had gotten to that point.

The woman was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
