Falls police rescue dogs chained inside vacant apartment building

NIAGARA FALLS – Police on Friday rescued two dogs that had been chained in a vacant apartment complex on Eighth Street, and are now searching for a woman who may have left them there.

Passersby told police of hearing a dog ”trapped” in the former Eleanor Apartments and officers found two dogs chained to beams inside the gutted-out building, according to reports. Found near the dogs was a purse with the identification of a Niagara Falls woman who is now being sought for questioning.

Property managers told police the building is being preppared for possible renovation. The dogs were taken to the Niagara County SPCA.
