Blasdell officials have complimented the state Department of Transportation for its reconstruction project of South Park Avenue.
“We were discussing as a board the South Park project,” Mayor Michael Petrie said during Wednesday’s meeting.
He said board members were in agreement that traffic flow has greatly improved since the project concluded just over a month ago. He said this is in part due to enhancements along the sides of the road, where there are fewer areas where cars can drive to the right of vehicles turning onto side streets.
“You actually have to wait in line for people driving,” Petrie said.
The project, which took about a month to complete, included repaving and reconstructing South Park Avenue from Milestrip Road north to the Lackawanna city line.
In other news, Village Clerk Administrator Janet Plarr said the village is applying for $200,000 for work on Allen Street.
“We have finished our (Community Development Block Grant) application,” Plarr said.
If the village is successful in its application, work on Allen would include improvements to the infrastructure, replacement of storm sewers, and fixing the pavement on the streets and curbs.
