It's been a bad week for Buffalo's theater community.
On Wednesday, longtime music director Michael Hake had died at the age of 52. And earlier this week, news of Theatre of Youth set and costume designer Ken Shaw's fight with lymphoma started trickling out.
It's in moments like this when the phrase "theater community" takes on its true meaning. Case in point: Theatre of Youth Director Meg Quinn's fundraising campaign for Shaw, intended to help him offset the cost of his co-pays and other treatment-related expenses, exceeded its goal of $6,000 in one day:
The donations flowed in almost instantaneously from all corners of the theater community, from struggling actors and those who have left the community to established directors. And they're still coming.
