Correction officer issued summons

A corrections officer was issued a criminal summons for second-degree harassment Wednesday after he attacked an employee for showing up late for a work shift, State Police in Albion reported Friday.

Charles M. Hannigan, 52, a corrections officer at Orleans Correctional Facility in Orleans County, was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Albion Court, police said.

Hannigan has since been suspended. He has worked for the state Department of Corrections since 1990 and has a salary of $93,407.
