Rex Ryan: 'I believe everybody will find out this team is all together'

Running highlights of Rex Ryan's Wednesday news conference...

Opening... I believe everybody will find out this team is all together. We know there's big challenges in front of us. No. 1, with J.J. Watt. He's probably the top player in the league. He's impressive. ... I was wrong. When he came out, I thought he'd be Dan Hampton. He might be better than Dan Hampton. ... They can throw the football and they're running the ball more. They don't have the bell cow, they have several backs they use and are effective.

On J.J. Watt... There's a lot of great motor guys. I think I played with a great motor but that didn't equate to any big. He has size, strength, speed, change of direction. But that motor is something. Has all those types of things and, oh by the way, he has a great motor. He has everything.

On if he should be in MVP conversation... Really hard for a defensive player to get that award. I would think he'd be in the conversation. A lot of it's based on your team. Right now, they're rolling pretty good. Hopefully we can do something about them and knock them down a peg.

On his own defense/on if he conceded... 30th in sacks is not real good. Wow. But I expect us to get better. I do. We'll see. It's different for me. I've never been in this situation. The worst I've been in is 11th. We'll see. I'm not going to press the panic button. Obviously we have to improve. At times I've seen us play with a better than 20th ranked defense or whatever we are.

On Gilmore saying he was surprised by lack of pressure... Whatever. Right now, you're looking for anything. We're just trying to find a way to stop people.

On challenge process... We'll get it fixed. We got it to as good as we can get it.

On Dareus dropping into coverage on TD passes... I guess looks can be deceiving. One of them we did. It was supposed to be a trap coverage and was supposed to trap the route they got the touchdown on. But we never executed it.

On team's potential... In my opinion, we're good enough to beat anybody. But if we don't play with the consistency we need, we'll lose them. At the end of the day, the proof's in the pudding. At times, we can play as good as any team in the league... Still inconsistency in how we're playing but in my opinion we haven't played as good as we can yet. We know we're backed up as far as we can be backed up. I know I'm a glass half full guy, no doubt about that, and I think we'll play very well.

On DeAndre Hopkins, designing a game plan around him... I think so. I think he's at that level.

On Karlos Williams... He's going to be out in today's practice with that shoulder. Cordy Glenn is going to be limited. Rambo won't practice today. Seantrel Henderson will miss today with a illness. Cordy had a little back thing I believe. He's improved. We'll see. Will he be limited? ... Don't have concerns of them not playing right now.

On Kyle/Mario Williams' future and if fear of window closing... No, and with those players I believe they're under contract.
