Sandra Looker, assistant financial aid director at Daemen College, received the Region 1 Rising Star Service Award from the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association. The Rising Star Award recognizes a financial aid professional who has recently become active with the NYSFAAA organization and has demonstrated leadership and commitment on the regional level. Looker, who joined Daemen in 2008, earned a master’s degree in education from Roberts Wesleyan College and a bachelor’s degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.


MedTech Association, a membership-based trade association for the bioscience and medical technology industry in New York State, named Chad Werts to its board of directors. Werts is chief executive officer at Clark Laboratories and chief operations officer at Immco Diagnostics.

Company Connections

Greenwich Associates, a consulting firm, named M&T Bank a “best brand” for small business banking, one of 12 banks to be so recognized. Greenwich surveyed nearly 13,000 small businesses and asked them to name the banks they would consider using for a variety of banking products and services.

EPIC- Every Person Influences Children – will be the recipient of $15,000 from the Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation. The grant comes from the Foundation’s Technology Planning and Implementation initiative. EPIC has partnered with Station 28, a Buffalo-based information and technology firm to conduct a thorough inventory and analysis of EPIC’s organization and operations. Station 28 will also establish a five-year technology plan to drive EPIC’s programs and innovations, as the organization reaches into and beyond its 40th year of service.
