4 arrested for damaging mailboxes

LEWISTON – Four 17-year-old boys were arrested here by state troopers Saturday for allegedly damaging residential mailboxes and drinking and smoking marijuana. The four were arrested when their car was stopped at Garlow and Mt. Hope Roads. All four were charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of alcohol by persons under age 21.

Troopers reported finding in the suspects’ vehicle a glass smoking pipe containing marijuana residues, 20 containers of beer. Troopers also found an aluminum baseball bat the suspects were accused of using in damaging mailboxes. The driver of the suspects’ car was also ticketed for Vehicle and Traffic violations. All face proceedings Wednesday in Lewiston Town Court.
