Wrong way driver in Thruway crash faces Buffalo City Court proceedings

The 27-year-old Town of Tonawanda woman arrested on drunken driving and other charges after she crashed into another vehicle while driving north in the southbound lanes of the Niagara Thruway in downtown Buffalo about 3 a.m. Sept. 17 faces Buffalo City Court proceedings Friday, State Police announced.

Kristen M. Banks was turned over to a sober third party after she was evaluated that morning at the Erie County Medical Center for leg and neck pains. She faces court proceedings on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and numerous Vehicle and Traffic infractions. The other driver was also evaluated medically the morning of the crash and discharged after complaining of chest pains, state police said.
