NIAGARA FALLS – A diabetes prevention workshop and two diabetes self-management workshops are coming up in western Niagara County. The classes are sponsored by the Niagara County Health Department and Office for the Aging.
A six-week program of self-management tips for those who have diabetes begins from 9:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 16 and will continue for six consecutive Fridays in the John A. Duke Senior Center, 1201 Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls. Another six week self-management program opens from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Bishop Gibbons Apartments, 1110 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda.
Meanwhile, a 16-week course of diabetes prevention classes for those whose doctors have told them they are at high risk for developing the disease will begin from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Wheatfield Towers, 6849 Plaza Drive, Wheatfield.
All classes are free, but advance registration is required by calling the Health Department’s Nursing Division at 278-1900.
