Nevada DT who hit UB's McGill suspended for a half this week

The Nevada defensive tackle who took a cheap shot on University at Buffalo receiver Marcus McGill in Saturday's game has been suspended by the Mountain West Conference for the first half of this week's Wolf Pack game.

Rykeem Yates gave McGill a helmet-to-helmet hit to the head after McGill had crossed a couple of steps into the end zone on a successful two-point conversion try. Yates was penalized for a 15-yard personal foul. However, that was Yates' second offense for targeting another player. So by MWC rules, he hast to sit out the first half of this week's game against UNLV. Had Yates been ejected from the Buffalo game, it might have helped the Bulls on their last two drives of the fourth quarter. Yates was the dominant player on the line of scrimmage throughout the game.
