The Buffalo History Museum will honor Eugene Vukelic and the late Burton Notarius at its annual Red Jacket Awards Dinner Thursday evening in the museum at 1 Museum Court at Elmwood Avenue. The program begins with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m.
Notarius, who headed Premier Liquor, supported many charities and served on the boards of numerous organizations, died in March 2014. Vukelic, chairman and chief executive officer of Try-It Distributing Co., also assists many charitable causes.
Two other awards also will be presented at the ceremony. The Owen B. Augspurger Award, which recognizes local historians, will be given to Douglas DeCroix, editor of Western New York Heritage magazine. The Daniel B. Niederlander Award for outstanding programming will go to the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council.
