Western New Yorkers who make regular drives to Burlington, Ontario, to shop at IKEA will soon have a much shorter trek.
The Scandinavian home decor and furniture retailer will open a Pick-Up and Order Point location in St. Catharines this spring at the Fairview Mall.
The concept is a pilot program the company is using to expand into new markets without IKEA stores. Customers can shop online and have orders delivered to the site for a $20 fee. It won’t be a traditional store with merchandise for sale, but it will have “inspirational displays” as well as Wi-Fi-enabled tablets customers can use to browse and order from IKEA.ca.
