Doug Benson is more than a stand-up comedian; he’s a comedy entrepreneur. In addition to regularly headlining clubs across the country and recording comedy albums, he’s expanded his skills as the host of several podcasts, including the popular “Doug Loves Movies,” which invites other comedians and celebrities (such as Jon Hamm, who appeared on the show just days after winning his Emmy last week) to play cinema-related games; his YouTube talk show, “Getting Doug with High,” features the comedian smoking up with his pals on camera; he’s made a series of pot-related documentaries like “Super High Me;” and premiered his Netflix stand-up special “Doug Dynasty” last year.
It’s quite a workload for the funny stoner, so it’s no surprise to learn that Benson’s Helium Comedy Club show begins at 4:20 p.m. Oct. 4. Benson returns to Buffalo to perform a stand-up show, but as many of his fans know, his sets tend to be pretty loose so there’s no telling where his Helium gig could end up. He’s asked fans to bring their name tags to the show, so there’s a solid chance one of his movie games will be played. Time to bone up on your Leonard Martin books.
General admission tickets for Benson’s lone Helium show are $20. Visit heliumcomedy.com.
