Lockport man faces over a dozen charges after a police chase in Lockport

LOCKPORT – A traffic stop led a Lockport police officer to discover a mobile methamphetamine lab in the rear of a van on Walnut Street at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, Justine Crawford, 25, of Hawley Street, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, criminal impersonation, as well as traffic charges of aggravated unlicensed operation, license plate light out and uninspected vehicle.

Due to the dangerous and potentially explosive nature of methamphetamine, State Police specialists were called to clean up at the scene. Police found several containers in the van that were actively “cooking” a batch of methamphetamine.

Streets were closed in the area and officers called in the Lockport Fire Department, as well as Eastern Niagara Hospital, which set up an outdoor decontamination unit. No injuries were reported.
