LEWISTON – The community is invited to attend an open house at the Upper Mountain Road Volunteer Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall, 839 Moyer Road.
The event includes a coloring contest for Lewiston school children and a chance for them to ride on a fire truck.
There will also be a “live burn” exercise and motor extrication drill for the community to watch, a chance to aim a live hose at a target, refreshments and giveaways.
The open house is held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10. The theme for the week, according to the National Fire Protection Association, is a reminder to have a working smoke alarm in your house.
The Upper Mountain Road Volunteer Fire Department serves the Town of Lewiston and responded to 1,311 calls for fire/rescue in 2014, making the company one of the busiest in Niagara County.
