Steve Harvey's Man Candy Calendar features Buffalo native

A Buffalo native is heating up Steve Harvey's 2016 "Man Candy Calendar."

Jay Hunter, 32, will be introduced on Monday's "Steve Harvey" show as one of six men featured in the calendar. Hunter is photographed in the September spot. The men will be introduced with the help of pop-culture guru Carrie Keagan - also a Buffalo native - and TV personality Kim Gravel. The studio audience will then vote on which of the men will get to grace the calendar cover. It's all part of the show's #mancrushMonday.

Hunter, currently a high school teacher in Burbank, Calif., said he was inspired to go into teaching by the TV character Mr. Hightower, played by Harvey in "The Steve Harvey Show."

"He was very sarcastic, but inspiring to me at the same time," Hunter said about the Hightower character. He also told Harvey that "Watching you on that TV show taught me as a student at the time that I could be a teacher who could be warm and professional at the same time and students would look up to you and respect you and they're gonna wanna do their work work."

"Steve Harvey" airs locally at 2 p.m. on WGRZ-TV. For info, visit steveharveytv.com
