Niagara Falls man shot in the leg outside 19th Street convenience store

NIAGARA FALLS – An argument over drugs may have precipitated a shooting early Saturday in the 300 block of 19th Street, Niagara Falls police said.

Police said the victim and another man were seen arguing aboyt 12:30 a.m., moments before the shooting that left DeMario A. Chandler, 28, of 18th Street, with a bullet wound above his left knee. Chandler was taken ny ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo. His condition was unavailable Saturday.

Chandler, according to police, was walking toward a convenience store when his attacker – described only as a black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt – fire a shot at him from the corner of 19th Street and Welch Avenue. Chandler ran into the store for help while the gunman fled, police said.
