Fire damages two vacant Buffalo homes

Firefighters late Friday battled separate fires in two vacant houses, one on the East Side and the other in the Lovejoy neighborhood, reported the Buffalo Fire Department.

The first fire was reported around 10:45 p.m. on 245 Watson St. between Peckham and William streets. Damage to the structure was estimated at $30,000. Exposure damage totaling $10,000 was reported to a house at 247 Watson.

The fire remained under investigation.

A fire at 251 Gold St. was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m., according to the fire department dispatch office. That fire recorded $30,000 in damage.

Both structures were scheduled for emergency demolition.
